  4. This is a custom keyboard layout that allows lower case 
  5. characters to be typed when the caps lock key is down by 
  6. pressing shift.
  7.  
  8. For example…
  9.  
  10. Modifiers                      Keys
  11. none                      abcdef 12345 [].
  12. Shift                      ABCDEF !@£$% {}>
  13. Caps Lock              ABCDEF 12345 [].
  14. Shift-Caps Lock    abcdef !@£$% {}>

  16. To use it (under System 7.x), make sure that the only application 
  17. running is the Finder™ then drag the keymap over the closed 
  18. System Folder, and klick OK.

  20. Then either use the Keyboards Control Panel to select it or press 
  21. Option-Command-Space to cycle through the keymaps in the 
  22. System File. You'll have to guess which one you're using though as 
  23. there is no visual indiciation. Unless of course you turn on the 
  24. keyboards menu

  26. Here’s how:  Open the System file with ResEdit.  (ResEdit will 
  27. warn you that it is hazardous to edit the same System file that 
  28. you are using, but its such a small change that you should get away 
  29. with it.)  Open the 'itlc' resource.  Change the value of the “Always 
  30. Show Keybd. Icon” flag from 0 to 1.  Close and save changes.

  32. When you restart there should be an extra icon in the menu bar to 
  33. the left of the Application menu. This alows you to change 
  34. keymaps and also gives an indication of which one you're currently 
  35. using.

  38. This keymap is distibuted as freeware. Give it to whoever you 
  39. please. All I ask is that this README file stays with it.
